Díseart na hOiléain

Oiléan Chléire
Eanair 25ú-28ú, 2024

Seo linn go Oiléain Chléire do trí lá lán thumadh sa teanga is sa chultúr.

This January we are headed to the West Cork Island of Oiléan Cléire for a three day immersion in Irish language and culture.

Siobhán de Paor and Diarmuid Lyng  will be joined by local masters who will share their craft, their knowledge and their Gaeilge. There will be play, poetry and ritual as we explore the unseen faces of our teanga through experience. This is an opportunity to experience the teanga beo in a unique and relevant way.

Beidh na máistir aitúil inár gcuideachta ag roinneadh a gcuid ceirdeanna, saíocht is saibhreas an teanga. Beidh sugradh, filíocht, deasghnáth agus íoga agus muid ag breathnú thart ar na gnéithe rúndaímharach dár theanga dúchas i láthair na huaire. Seo deis chun dul i dtaithí ar do chultúr i slí úrna is cuí.

For the Gaeltacht

Our location is the southernmost Gaeltacht island of Oiléan Cléire, home of the draoi saint Ciarán, of megaliths and stone walls, of story tellers and whale song.

Sé an oiléan is faide ó dheas; suíomh an díseart, baile dhúchais naomh Ciarán, galláin, ballaí clocha, scéalaí is amhrán an míol mór.

This is an opportunity for self care and healing with daily íoga and meditation. There will be nourishing healthy food, in keeping with the season we will have a roast wild deer for our féasta on Saturday, after the ritual.

Seo deis aire a thabhairt duit fhéin agus chneasú le íoga agus machnamh go laethúil.  Beidh bia beathúil de réir an séasúr agus beidh fia fiáin rósta don féasta ar an Satharn, ina dhiaidh an deasghnáth.

For the Gaelgóirs

Working in collaboration with MEITHEAL; Phlean Teanga Chléire this retreat will be enriched by experiences with islanders. We'll learn about the placenames from an expert, we'll observe a local stone mason and artist at their craft. (To be confirmed.) We'll have lón in a bialann áitúil and if we've the beans for it, a session in the pub.

I chomhoibriú le MEITHEAL, Plean Teanga Chléire, beidh an díseart seo déanta níos saibhre le ionchur na saoi áitiúla. Foghlaimeoimid faoi loganimneacha áitiúila ó san eolaí, breathnóimid ar saor cloiche is ealaíontóir i mbun a gceird.

Beidh lón againn i bialann áitúil agus má tá an fuinneamh ionann, rachfhaimid go dtí an phub le haghaidh seisúin ceoil.

For the Gaeilge

This retreat is ideal for intermediate learners; a chance to tap into the dormant knowledge of 12 years of Irish classes. Diarmuid and I will be bilingual.  It will also suit fluent speakers. This is an opportunity to use your Gaeilge briste and attend to that relationship and feed that inner yearning for your language and to release whatever blocks its expression.

Oireadh an díseart seo do foghlaimeoirí idir mheánach.Seo deis ceangail le an t-eolas faoi shuan ó 12 bliain de ranganna Gaeilge ar scoil. Oireadh sé fresin do cainteoirí líofa a bhfuil suim acu san ábhar. Seo deis chun do Gaeilge briste a úsáid agus freastal ar an caidreamh sin, chun beathú an dúil lastigh do do theanga agus chun scaoileadh leis an constaic go dtí a léiriú.

Accomodation

Is included, we'll have small dormitory-style rooms in Tig Florrie

Beidh lóistín suanlios san áireamh i Tig Florrie.

Winter Writing

This is an Irish class with a difference.  Siobhan will introduce you to the deeper implications of speaking Irish, for the psyche, biology and the mind.   We will use the foclóir as a tool of communication with our inner selves.   We can practice unblocking creative flow and finding an authentic expression tríd Gaeilge.

Seo rang Gaeilge diffrúil.  Chuirfhinn na himpleachtaí níos deimhne don teanga in aithint duit, don písce, bitheolaíocht agus an intinn. úsáidfhimid an foclóir chun dul i dteangmháil le do chroí istigh, ag réitiú aon constaic ar an sruth cruthaitheach agus aimsiú léiriú údarásach tríd Gaeilge.

Comharlie Scéalta/Story Council: Oral traditions are based on an understanding that there is medicine in a story.  In this council each person is invited to share a story of their relationship to Irish culture and language. It can be an overview or one incident, in the story council you share your unique story medicine.

Tá an tradisiúin ó béal bunaithe ar an tuiscint go bhfuil leigheas sa scéal. Sa chomharlie seo tá cuireadh do gach duine a scéal faoina caidreamh leis an teanga is cultúr a roinneadh. D'fhéadfadh sé bheith achoimre nó tarlú amháin; sa chomharlie scéalta roinneadh tú do chuid leigheas.

Ritual/Deasghnáth

Our ancestors understood the direct relationship between our bodies and the sun.  That understanding is the basis of the Celtic calendar.  January is a month for retreating to prepare the soil for the first stirrings of Imbolc.

A ritual is an announcement to Life; a strong intention set in sacred space that will precipitate and accelerate changes in your life. We will rediscover, reclaim and reinvent our indigenous ritual and ceremony.  We will let the Spontaneous Spirit of the Moment guide us in the process of letting go of the successes and failures of the previous year to prepare for a new begining.

Thuig ár shinsir an dlúthchaidreamh idir an chorp agus an ghrian. Tá an tuiscint sin mar bhunchloch ar an féilire Cheilteach.  Tá mí Eanair oirúinach do díseart chun ithir a ullmhú do teacht mhuscailt Imbolc.

Is fógra don Saol é deasghnáth; cuspóir láidir déanta in spás naofa a brostóidh is a chuirfidh dlús le athrú i do shaol. Beimid ag athaimsiú, ag éiligh ar agus ag athchruthú ár deasgháth agus searmanas.  Ligfhimid do Sprid Oscailte an Nóiméad  muid a theoirú sa phroiséis de scaoileadh le rath agus teip na bliaina chun ullmhú do tús nua.

Iománaíocht

Outside of competition and pitch, discover or re-discover the joy of play and your own childlike vitality in a game of wild hurling. Diarmuid will teach you the basic skills of the game followed by a modified game of hurling, for all skill levels.

Taobh amuigh don iomaíocht agus an páirc, faigh amach, nó faigh amach an athuair an sonas sa sugradh agus do beocht páistúil le cluiche de iománaíocht fiáin.  Múinfhidh Diarmuid na scilleanna bunúsach roimh cluiche, athraithe is oiriúinach do gach leibéil scilleanna.

Muintir na háite/The Islanders: We will visit a stonewall builder and a boatman scholar who knows about the names of the places.

Tugfhaimid cuairt ar saor cloiche agus bádóir scoláire le chuir amach ar na loganimeacha.
